Competition Format
The event shall be played under The R&A Rules of Golf, the Tournament Regulations of the PGAs of Europe, the 2011 PGAs of Europe Conditions of Competition and the local rules for the Aphrodite Hills Golf Course as determined by the PGAs of Europe Tournament Director.A total of 45 teams (1 Professional and 3 Amateurs) will compete over 36 holes stableford with the best two scores from the team of four to count on each hole. Each team will play 18 holes on Thursday 31st May and 18 holes on Friday 1st June 2012. Six Team Prizes (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th) will be awarded after the cumulating score of the day rounds and the 1st and 2nd team will be awarded over division (Gold, Silver and Bronze).
Additional awards for amateurs in the Pro-Am:
Longest drive (men) Hole 6 Round 2
Longest drive (ladies) Hole 8 Round 2
Closest to the pin (men and ladies) Hole 7 Round 2
The professionals will also play a 54 hole strokeplay event, 36 holes with their amateur teams (31st May and 1stJune), and a further 18 holes on Saturday 2nd June. Professionals' prizes are stated in the "Prizes" section.
On the final day (2nd June) the amateurs will play their own 18 hole, individual stableford competition, the Aegean Airlines Cup 2012 . Competitors will play in 2 categories accordingly to their handicap and will be drawn in handicap order.
The handicap limit is 28 for men and ladies with a 3/4 allowance in the pro-am and in the individual competition.
Amateurs are required to provide their exact handicap on the entry form at the time of entry and will be asked to confirm their handicap at the registration desk of the event. Any amendments MUST be notified by 10.00hrs on Wednesday 30th May.
NOTE: ALL PRIZE WINNERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE CURRENT PROOF OF HANDICAP BEFORE THEIR TEAM IS PRESENTED WITH THEIR PRIZES
For those players who possess a "EGA/USGA" related handicap, the slope system will apply to the tournament and each amateur will play from the applicable handicap. Those players whose handicap system is not related to the "slope" system (CONGU) should provide their exact current handicap at their home club and this will be readjusted according to the calculation provided by the EGA to suit a ‘sloped’ golf course.
The minimum participation limit age for all players is 18 years.
The Pro-Am and the Cup tournament will be carried out with buggies.
The closing date for Team entries is 16th April 2012.
Entries will only be accepted when accompanied by full payment. The entry fee for amateurs is €800 per person. There is no entry fee for professionals.
The entry fee includes:
- 1 Practice Round and 2 Tournament Rounds for the “7th Aegean Airlines Pro-Am”.
- 1 Tournament Round for the “Aegean Airlines Cup 2012”.
- Use of Practice balls and buggies for all rounds.
- Pro-Am pack on registration.
- Pro-Am official functions and social events.
- Pro-Am lottery tickets (opportunity to win sponsors gifts).
- On course refreshments & snacks for 4 days (30/05 – 02/06)
- Golf course liability insurance and player’s bodily injury insurance for 4 days (30/05 – 02/06)
Any disputes regarding the interpretation of these Conditions of Competition will be settled by the PGAs of Europe and in consultation with Aegean Airlines will be binding.
